Where are they now?
Wes and Elaine were married May 26, 2007 and are currently living in Chicago. They are both Bible students who graduate in May 2008, Elaine from Moody Bible Institute and Wes from Liberty University. After graduation Wes and Elaine will head to Texas and Pennsylvania to raise support for their upcoming ministry.
Where are they going?
For their first assignment the couple will be making their way to Fort Richardson, AK to support the Mountain Chapel Hospitality House run by Daniel and Barbra Evans.
Their desire is to see the dark and lonely lives of unsaved Soldiers brightened by the loving hospitality and fellowship of believers.
Why Cadence?
Wes and Elaine are products of Cadence’s ministry.
Elaine joined the Air Force in 2000 and was stationed at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. It was there she met Tim and Rebecca Hawkins at the King’s Arms Hospitality House. The impact the Hawkins had on Elaine transformed her future plans and created a desire to minister in a hospitable fashion.
Wes met the Hawkins in a later part of his Air Force career. He also joined the Air Force in 2000 and didn’t make his way to RAF Lakenheath until 2004 long after Elaine was gone. Experiencing the community aspect of the Hawkins ministry changed Wes’ heart and life. He too developed a desire to serve people in a hospitable fashion.
As God would have it after three semesters at Moody Bible Institute Elaine came back to England for a summer internship with the Hawkins. Wes was living next door and preparing for his internship with the Hawkins upon separation from the military six months later. The two hit it off and spent the summer ministering together and falling in love in a way that redefines the term “missionary dating.”
Now with their history of military service and desire to serve those who serve, it is only a natural fit for the former Airmen to give back to those they know and love.
