About the Campbells

Like many missions, Cadence has observed a growing need for on the field care for missionaries serving overseas. The instances of burn out, team disruption (sometimes destruction), marital problems and family struggle have become such that many missions have created “in house” groups to provide proactive training and reactive care. We are one of 3 couples within Cadence to provide such care to our missionaries. Our primary focus is the Cadence mission team in Europe. I travel twice a month to visit our missionary staff. My goal is to see each of them 2-3 times per year and lean into issue surrounding their personal health and effective service. In addition we have a missionary guest apartment in our home. Our ministry involves pastoral counseling, accountability, prayer, encouragement and training.

The military uses a 4 level grid to address the health of its members:

Level One-Soldier to soldier-Buddy Care

Level Two-Mobile Hospital-Think Mash Unit

Level Three-Regional Field Care- Larger clinics located “in theater” to address more significant needs

Level Four-Full Service Hospitals in the USA (Walter Reed)

Our role is to train Level One and to provide elements of level Two and Three. The goal is to keep missionaries on the field by providing a higher level of care for their personal, inter personal and spiritual needs.
