Biography of George & Lillian Davis
George was born in Seattle, Washington, and moved to The Territory of Alaska in 1949. It was there, in the little town of Valdez, that George accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior during a “Youth for Christ” rally. After graduating from Valdez High School, he joined the navy and served nearly twenty-five years. His overseas tours of duty with the Navy, were spent in Japan, the Philippines, and Guam. During his time in Japan and the Philippines he came in contact with OCSC missionaries, Erv Meyer, and Tom and Dotty Hash. Their input helped him better understand God’s will for his life and to make the decision to go into full-time Christian ministry.
Lillian was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She asked Jesus to come into her heart at an early age in Sunday school but didn’t grow very much spiritually until the birth and death of their second child in 1961. The Lord used this trial to show her the reality of His life in her and the need to submit to His will. Later, in the Philippines, the Lord taught her more about full commitment to Him and instilled the desire to serve Him full time anywhere in the world He may lead.
While stationed in Yorktown, Virginia, George was introduced to Lillian Snyder by a friend and they were married on November 15, 1958. Their first child, Steven was born on January 1, 1960. Their second child, Linda was born in San Diego, California. Robert, their third child, was born in November of 1963.
In 1964, while stationed at Sasebo, Japan, they met Erv Meyer, their first contact with Overseas Christian Servicemen’s Centers [OCSC]. Later, while stationed in the Philippines, they met Tom and Dotty Hash. It was during this time that George began to seek the Lord’s leading as to what he should do after retiring from the navy. The answer was obvious, go into full time ministry to the military. He retired from the Navy in June of 1978 and went to work for DuPont in Charleston, South Carolina. At the 1982 Horn Creek Bible Conference, Tom Hash spoke with George and Lillian about joining the mission. George was reminded once again what God wanted him to do: minister to the military. After much prayer they said yes and were accepted by OCSC in February of 1983.

*NOTE: Their first assignment was to assist and train at Kadena Christian Center under Frank and Ruth Ann Branham. Ron Rogers, the director at Hansen, had procured the facilities near Camp Schwab. Not able to direct both Schwab and Hansen, Ron turned over the facilities to the Davises. While still at Kadena the Davises would open the Schwab Center three times a week. Later, Ron and family returned to the States and the Davises moved to Hansen and directed both Centers until Bob Skinner took over the Schwab ministry.
