About the Evanses

We are Dan, Caleb (12) and Audrey (7) Evans. Our beloved mother and wife Barbara Jean (Barb) passed away March 7, 2011 after a year and a half long battle with brain cancer. The three of us live in Eagle River, Alaska.

History with Cadence International

We have been missionaries with Cadence International since 1990 ministering in Germany as a youth pastors for American military teens through Cadence Student Ministries (CSM), formerly Malachi. In 2007 our hearts felt a tug toward the young U.S. Soldiers and Airmen. It would seem that God had slowly been preparing us for this transition to Alaska.

About the Mountain Chapel Hospitality House

Alaska is beautiful, mountainous, and endless in its opportunity for mountain adventure ministry. But more than that, Anchorage is ripe for reaching out and ministering to the young military (ages 18-25) and their families. We will be working along side chaplains, both U.S. Army and Air Force, at Joint Base Elmendorf/Richardson. Chaplains are a key piece in our ministry. It is our desire to come alongside them, to enhance their ongoing ministry and to be a team player. Upon arriving in AK one chaplain mentioned that our ministry would be an “answer to his two years of praying for someone to reach soldiers in this way.” We are thrilled God has chosen us to answer this prayer!

Prayer Requests for Our Ministry

  • We grieve well the loss of our mother and wife
  • Developing new “partners” to join us financially
  • Chaplains to remain receptive and to continue to open doors for this ministry
  • A good school system for Caleb and Audrey
