On Friday, April 16th, 2010 we officially became Cadence missionaries. We have been appointed to Hospitality House Ministry, which means we will be living in a Hospitality House as full-time missionaries. A Hospitality House is “a home away from home” where servicemen and women find an open door, a comfortable couch, a home-cooked meal, and people who listen, encourage, love, and point them to the hope of Christ. Hospitality Houses offer different ministries depending on location. These may include Bible studies, singles groups, family-focused ministries, evangelistic outreach efforts, one-to-one discipleship, and coffee house ministries. Hospitality House missionaries strive to share the ups and downs of life with military personnel, encouraging them into deeper relationships with others and with Christ. We are looking forward to finding out where the Lord will send us.
As we prepare for full- time hospitality house ministry, our major responsibility is to share about the needs of the military community and how each of us can make a profound difference in the lives of those who serve our country.
A little about us:
Watch Our Story
I (Darrow) grew up in a military family. My grandfather served in WWII and my father retired from the Air Force after 33 years. Vicki grew up in San Antonio where we met. 1993 was an eventful year, I joined the Air Force and married Vicki. Our honeymoon was spent driving a U-Haul to Colorado Springs for our first duty station. After two years in Colorado Springs the Air Force sent us to Germany. While in Germany we attended The Kaiserslautern Hospitality House directed by Sue and Sandy Nafziger. The Hospitality House was a pivotal time of discipleship and growing in God for us. After three years in Germany, my time with the Air Force came to an end and we moved to Irving, Texas. After returning to the states, our family doubled in size. We now have two children, Cassie is 10 and James is 8.
