Biography of Lou & Linda Harrison
Lou was established in his walk with the Lord while a sailor, stationed in the Philippines, and while being discipled by one of the founding families of OCSC. Linda was growing in her walk with the Lord through her years in Prairie High School and Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada, while her parents were missionaries in the Philippines. Lou attended Prairie Bible Institute after he was discharged from the navy. (In later years, Lou also graduated from Azusa Pacific University and then from Grace Theological Seminary with an MA in Biblical Counseling.)
Lou and Linda met and were married during Bible school years and joined OCSC/Cadence in May 1966. They served first, briefly, in Vietnam, then in the Philippines, Thailand, Missouri, Germany, and Italy. These ministry assignments were followed by 13 years as Director of Asia-Pacific Ministries. Desiring to return to direct ministry to troops, the Harrisons next served the soldiers and families of the Army's 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum, NY, for 4 1/2 years. This was followed by 4 1/2 years on loan (as Cadence missionaries) to the Oceanside Servicemen's Center (dba
The Anchor) where they ministered to the Marines of Camp Pendleton, CA.
Currently, they are located near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains offering
Personal Retreats for individual troops and their familiies.
The Harrisons' eldest son, Greg (wife, Barbie), was born in California before their first overseas assignment; Art (wife, Tanya), was born in the Philippines; and Christina (husband, Joel), was born in Missouri. Art and Tanya have three children; Joel and Christina have four. All Lou and Linda's children have been actively involved with them in Servicemen’s Center, Retreat Center, and Hospitality House ministries. All place a high value on this type of outreach to the armed forces.
