Biography of Ray & Char Hauser
Ray and Char were born and raised in California. In 1968, a week after Ray graduated from navy boot camp, they were married. They have one son, Michael. Ray and Char have served with Cadence International for more than 20 years sharing the gospel and their lives with the military community. Fourteen of those years were spent in Japan. In 1979, after Ray completed his B.A. in Christian Education at Biola University, they moved to northern Japan to direct the ministry at the Misawa Hospitality House. In 1987, while on home assignment, Ray completed his M.A. in Christian Education at Talbot Seminary and was ordained by the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches. In 1989 they moved back to Japan to direct the Yokosuka Servicemen’s Center, ministering to the U.S. Seventh Fleet at Yokosuka Naval Facilities. In 1994, Ray was asked to be on the Leadership Team of Cadence International, directing the Public Ministries Department. While serving in that position, Ray developed and implemented the Cadence Banquet Ministry, raising tens of thousands of dollars for special projects within the mission. During this time Char was able to complete her degree. In November of 1999, Ray and Char established the Cadence House, a Cadence ministry in Kailua Hawaii, for those stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) Kaneohe Bay. In 2000 Char established the first PWOC (Protestant Women Of the Chapel) ministry on a Marine Corps base. Presently PWOC is ministering to 60 military women and wives. In 2005 Ray and Navy Commander Bryan Burt developed and established HMCM (Hawaii Military Christian Ministries) for the purpose of bringing together local pastors, chaplains, and Para-church ministries in an effort to more effectively impact the military community for Christ. In 2009, in conjunction with HMCM, Ray developed and established the "Flak Jacket For The Soul" seminar; a pre-combat spiritual resiliency seminar to prepare Marines at Marine Corps Base Hawaii with spiritual and emotional coping skills though which they can process their combat experience and thereby minimize the impact of the wounding of their souls.
