As a young soldier, Peter was ministered to at a hospitality house in Wildflecken, Germany. Through the discipleship of Tony and Chris, the house directors, and the positive Christian fellowship while so far from home, Peter grew in his faith. It was during those critical years that God planted a seed that would germinate and grow…to help prepare him for becoming a missionary with Cadence.
Both of Tanya’s parents served in the Air Force and her step-dad in the Army. In college she volunteered at Point Man Ministries (a ministry for vets by vets). Through conversations with some of the veterans at Point Man she saw the need that so many soldiers have, the hurt and heartache of living a soldier’s life. Between the service of her parents and the work with the veterans, respect and appreciation for military personnel took root in her heart…it is what God used to plant the desire to minister to soldiers in the military today.
Peter and Tanya both attended Simpson College in Redding, California, where they met and, after graduating, started dating. Peter graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies and Tanya with a degree in Liberal Studies; Tanya then received her Teaching Credential and Masters in Education as well. They were married in March of 2002. Peter has worked in the educational field as an admissions counselor for most of their marriage. Tanya taught kindergarten at a local Christian school for several years. Their son Nathan was born in April of 2007 and has been such a joy to their family.
Throughout the years of their marriage God has challenged Peter and Tanya and helped them to grow as individuals, as a couple and now as a family. Serving God is an adventure and a privilege and Peter and Tanya feel called to serve God by serving the military. Their desire is to be able to minister to the lives of those who serve our country and their families. Please pray for Peter and Tanya as they begin to develop partners who will be a part of this ministry and help provide the support they need as they go out into the field.
