We started our career with Malachi back in October 1987 while we were still in college.  In June of 1988 I graduated from Biola University, in July Katie was born and in September we were in Baumholder, Germany.  Baumholder was the perfect fit for us and we loved ministry in this quaint little town of 5000 Germans.  It was in 1989 that Michael joined the "team" and the team was complete in 1992 with the addition of Andrew.
In 1992 we also moved back to the States with an eye on opening up the Malachi Asia field.  While the timing took longer than we would have liked we did pack our bags and moved to Yokosuka Navy Base in Japan in April of 1994 to start the ministry there.  Yokosuka was a fantastic place to dive into kids' lives and we grew to love ministry all the more during our 4 years in mainland Japan.
In 1999 we were asked to move back to Germany to be on the leadership team of Malachi.  Hanau, Germany, became home for the next 4 years as we were once again working with the US Army.  Coupled with our new leadership commitments and weekly youth groups, mission trips to Romania became a passion for us as we took both kids and families in to work with orphans.  We found that our ministry was "maturing" as we spent more time with families, not just the teens.
During a leadership meeting in the spring of 2003 the question was asked of us if we would be willing to once again move back to Asia to be the Malachi Asia Director.  In August of 2003 we packed our bags and moved to Okinawa, Japan, to work on Kadena Air Force Base.  What a great place to both raise 3 of our own teens while striving to impact the hundreds of military teens on the island.  We had four great years that will forever mark our lives on Okinawa.
In 2007 we felt it was time to move back to this foreign country called the United States and help introduce Katie, Michael and Andrew to this country that they called home but in which they had barely lived.  Katie was heading out for college while Michael was a senior and Andrew a freshman in high school.  Cadence offered us a position working in the Human Resources department as a Human Resources Mentor.  I was in this position until the summer of 2011 when I was named the Director of Mobilization and Training.  In this role I do recruitment, work with those who have joined Cadence and are building their support teams and offer support to our missionaries who are back in the States for home assignment.  Our dream is to one day be back overseas working with the US military; however, we feel like we have been given a unique opportunity to be near our college age children while at the same time offering support and guidence to new missionaries who are just starting their missionary service.
