Buddy & Jen both grew up in the military community.  Jen's parents were DoDDS teachers in Japan and Germany and Buddy's father served as a chaplain in the military. 

Buddy & Jen spent 10 years in Okinawa, Japan, at Kadena Air Base. They began running the Jr. High in February of 2000. In the summer of 2003 they took over Impact, the military community high school program, and also became community directors.

In the summer of 2007, Buddy became the Asia director, a role he held until the summer of 2010 when he became the interim director for Cadence Student Ministries (formerly Malachi). 

Now the Rathmells are in Thailand starting a new program called the Cadence Discipleship Training School (DTS). DTS is for graduating military students or people leaving the military at the end of their duty.
