About the Wilsons
Mark grew up in a military household; his father was stationed all over the world. In 1980, his family had enough of moving every couple of years, so they transferred from the air force to the air national guard and were stationed at Andrews Air Force Base for the remainder of Mark’s growing-up years. At age 10, he received Christ as Savior after a gospel presentation during Sunday school class. From that time on he was highly involved in his youth group, until he left for college. Mark received a degree in Christian Education, Bible, and a certificate in Youth Ministry from Taylor University.
Mark met his wife, Kathy, there in 1991. Kathy grew up in a Christian home. Her father is a senior pastor and her mother has always been heavily involved in the church; Kathy received Christ as her Lord and Savior at the young age of five, and her love for missions was developed early. She participated in several short-term missions projects in Europe, Mexico, and inner city Chicago. On her trip to Germany in 1987 the Lord introduced her to Cadence Student Ministries (formerly Malachi) and she knew that one day she would be back. Kathy went to Taylor University where she received a B.S. degree and she met Mark. They were married January 8, 1994.
The Wilsons ministered seven years in the Kaiserslautern military community from March 1996 until May 2003. They returned to Heidelberg, Germany, in August of 2004 as the director of Operational Vision for Cadence Student Ministries (CSM). This position’s responsibility was to make sure CSM’s vision and strategy were being implemented as a priority in all areas of ministry including: organizational structure, staff training, planning, recruiting, budgeting, leadership, and discipleship of CSM staff. Mark’s position impacted 40 youth workers, 150-200 volunteers and almost a 1000 students a week. This is said humbly knowing it’s Christ who has impact through us and He is the one who has given us the responsibility to participate in the leadership of the organization as a whole.
In November of 2006, Mark accepted the Board of Directors and the Sr. Leadership's team offer to be the Executive Director of Cadence Student Ministries. In this significant leadership role, Mark moves the staff and mission into the future.
